Tuesday 2/11

Our Olympics project carried on today with the completion of your country's fantasy draft, an estimation activity to determine how helpful and accurate your graphs are, and the results of the first couple of events. Hopefully your fantasy Olympic team is off to a great start at the Winter Games!

Tonight's homework is to begin studying for Common Assessment #6, which we'll be taking on Friday. Tests 19, 20, and 21 are the best study tools for you. Don't wait to begin preparing until the last minute!

Monday 2/10

Today in class we learned how to graph linear inequalities using Notes #48. This is always a three step process, one that you need to memorize:

1. Decide whether the line should be solid or dashed.
2. Graph the line like you would a linear equation.
3. Check a point and then shade the side that works.

 
Homework #81: TB pg 305 (#1-21 odd)
Be sure to check your answers in the back of the book when finished.

Friday 2/7

This week we took our knowledge of writing linear equations and created a fantasy system to score the performances of the Olympic athletes.  Over the next two weeks we will use those equations to score our athletes and determine a winning "country."

Thursday 2/6

Today in class we began the fantasy draft for your country's Olympic team. The couple of events we didn't get to today we'll finish up next week. We've got enough done for the games to begin!

Tonight's homework is to fix any yellow sheets that were incorrect or in need of modifications.

If you're looking for an app to track all the countries, athletes, and results from the Olympics there are a lot out there. Our favorite so far is "Sochi 2014 Results" which has both Android and iOS versions available.

Wednesday 2/5

Tonight's homework is to finish the scoring systems for all of the events. Your country divvied up the work and is counting on you to come prepared with your part tomorrow.

Tomorrow is your country's fantasy draft! Make sure you bring whatever research you've conducted this week.  A list of all the athletes/teams registered for the draft can be found here.

Tuesday 2/4

We continued working on our Winter Olympics Project today in class. Today's focus was on creating your country's scoring system for each of the ten events. We'll continue that tomorrow in class and wrap it up for homework tomorrow night.

Tonight's homework is to continue your research for you country's fantasy draft. A list of the ten events in our fantasy Olympics can be found in the document linked above. You should be familiar with the top athletes/teams in each of those events to give your country the best shot in the fantasy draft. There's a ton of ranking information and projected results available online. Get creative!

We began our Winter Olympics Project today in class. Feel free to download a copy of the packet that we'll be using and filling out in class if you'd like to take an early look at home.

Tonight's homework is to begin researching top Olympic athletes to prepare for your country's fantasy draft on Thursday.

If your country did not finish their flag in class today, your team assigned one delegate to finish it at home tonight, in preparation for tomorrow's flag raising ceremony.
